Why study this course?

This course has been developed for students who have extensive experience working in the painting and decorating industry but do not hold any formal qualifications and are seeking registration with the Department of Mines, Industry Regulations and Safety (Building Commission).


  • Pre-requisites

    Students must demonstrate a minimum of 5 years’ work experience in the painting and decorating sector. All students will need to demonstrate satisfactory language, literacy and numeracy skills and sufficient physical fitness levels.

  • Core Competencies

    There are 4 units required to complete this course:

    BSBSMB401 Establish legal and risk management requirements of new business ventures

    CPCCBC4004 Identify and produce estimated costs for building and construction projects

    CPCCPD3021 Prepare surfaces for painting

    82985 PRB colour and wallpapering

  • Course Structure

    This course is delivered in a 5-day block, full time, 8am-4pm.

    Training is delivered as a blended model of face-to-face and online learning. Assessment methods include written questions and practical skills assessments.

  • Course Fees

    Fee for Service: $5000.00

    ***The CTF provides funding supportfor training of eligible workers in the construction industry. We acknowledge the support ofthe CTF in reducing the costs of training for eligible workers.
